Usually, my wildlife paintings have a red background or border which signifies danger for the endangered species of Vietnam and wider South East Asia. The series is called the 'Red Dream' series because I am trying to raise awareness of the plight of these animals and I have a dream that we can live harmoniuosly with them and they can thrive as we do. This painting is not in red because the rhino is not endangered. IT IS EXTINCT. So this painting is more like a memorial, a tribute, a eulogy. No more can we wander the grass lands and forests of Vietnam and hope to encounter a small, shy Vietnamese rhino. The loss is all ours.
