Each year, on my birthday, I hold a fundraiser for a local charity. I call it the Village Fete. But this year, I have slightly changed it to engage, what has become, a dwindling expat community here in Hoi An. This year, I asked all the local amateur artists to create some small masterpieces to be sold in a silent auction at one of our favourite watering holes. I have been overwhelmed at the quality and quantity of submissions and I am sure we are going to have a great night raising money for some disabled children in our town. We raised $1,000 this year - that's a record!!
