Rue des Arts
As a group of artists and entrepreneurs, we are pushing to turn Hoi An’s old French Quarter into the ancient city’s centre for authentic arts.
Fine art photographer Rehahn is leading the push to restyle Phan Boi Chau Street as Rue des Arts. Joining him are the owners and artists involved in art galleries, a museum, and fine crafts shop, in the same neighbourhood.
We want the Rue Des Arts to be recognized as a place to find original, high value creative work in Hoi An. There are so many businesses,in the old town, selling pirate copies of the work of hard working creatives that it is difficult for visitors to know where to buy authentic work that is guaranteed by the artist. This is a problem throughout Vietnam but they would like Hoi An to take the lead in stamping out these illegal practices.
The launch of our free guide to Hoi An’s Rue des Arts to celebrate the culture and art of Vietnam will help visitors to Hoi to immerse themselves in the city’s creative scene. They can visit Precious Heritage Art Gallery Museum, March Gallery, Hoi An Photo Tour and Gallery, Phap Gallery, Villagecraft Planet and Ly Ly Gallery, as well as the elegant Brother’s Café and Mia Coffee, the longest establish western style coffee shop in Hoi An.

Formerly known as Courbet Street after the French admiral who led a victory over China, Phan Boi Chau was once the main street of the French Quarter, a dock for ships transporting spices, silks, pepper, honey, porcelain and cotton. The street has now be reclaimed as the centre of the French Quarter, and also Hoi An in terms of art and culture.
This picturesque street was part of the original UNESCO survey that led to Hoi An becoming a Word Heritage Town. Formerly known as Courbet Street after the French general whole led a victory over China, Phan Boi Chau was once the main street and trading centre for the French in Central Vietnam with its own dock for ships travelling the Silk Route.
